Trimming The Tree

by Derek—2005.12.04 @ 2145

I can’t believe we didn’t post this when we did it, but you know how life goes. We went out Christmas Tree hunting, determined to make it to a specific tree lot that was recommended to us by friends. Before we went out, we stopped by the PX to pick up some last-minute trimmings. Much to our surprise, there was a tree lot right at the PX! Melissa hopped out and found the prices agreeable, so we decided to do some one-stop shopping.

We got everything we needed inside the PX, and at the lot, we got everything else, including a tree. At the lot, I instinctively went directly to the biggest, prettiest trees available. A lot attendant came over and I said, “I’m sure we’re in the wrong spot; can you direct me to the $30 trees?” The attendant confirmed that we were indeed in the wrong area. He took us over to where the small, ugly trees reside and tried to find one under $30. We found one that wasn’t perfect, but it suited us. I figured that perfection isn’t a true reflection of nature or reality. So, we have a lop-sided tree with bulgy sides and a stubby top. I’m happy.

Returning home, the kids helped us decorate (Melissa helped re-distribute the ornaments). While the kids and mom were decorating, I went outside and put more lights around our roof-line. I’m afraid it doesn’t look very good (terrible, actually). Although, this being my first time, I’m not too upset.

We’ve uploaded photos into our growing gallery. Enjoy!
