It happened one Saturday night and lasted until the wee hours of Sunday morning: “The great snow storm of ‘06” as the locals now call it. The storm dropped about seven inches of snow but the effect was horrible: Downed trees everywhere, and in many places, power-outages. We were without power for about nine hours as trees dropped over power lines. Roads were closed as officials cleared the debris and worked to restore power to neighborhoods. In one neighborhood next to ours, power was out for two days.
We learned some good lessons and we talked to each other about where the power comes from and how it helps us with all sorts of things.
Church was cancelled on Sunday, and on Monday, work was cancelled. With the extra time off, we built three snowmen in our front yard (up from one the previous year). You can see more photos in our gallery.
