Bird Nesting

A few weeks ago we began noticing birds building nests all over our housing area, many in very interesting places. I noticed that some birds building a nest in our porch light! I didn't think that was a great idea, so I pulled all the twigs out. My efforts proved fruitless, as the birds came back and overnight built a nest and layed some eggs. Now the mother sits on the eggs all day and doesn't budge, even with all the activity in-and-out of the door.
However, when I went out to take this photo (above), the bird flew away. I think it is some kind of pigeon, but I can't be sure. We tell the kids to "be quiet" as we move around the door so we don't disturb their nesting. There are two eggs in the nest.
