Our Old Designs

by Derek—2005.08.29 @ 1431

I've designed and re-designed this site many times, and after last night's marathon, I wondered if I had any of the old designs still floating around. I dug through my recent files and found a few old designs going back to 2003; older themes may be archived elsewhere. You can see these designs in our photo gallery.

As the saying goes, the mechanic's car is always broken down; the carpenter's home is never finished; and the designer's personal website is always in flux. This has definately been true of our website: we're always changing. Some of our designs have worked well and were well-liked. Others just plain stunk. The goal for the past two years has been to create a template whos structure would accomodate past and present designs by modifying only a single style sheet. This hasn't worked out completely, but I'm getting closer. In theory, this would mean you could quickly switch from theme to theme to see the different versions over the years. Since the basic structure of the site has changed, the old themes no longer work.

Perhaps one of these day's I'll get around to creating a solid XHTML template that I won't have to modify anymore.
