I just watched the keynote speech on beautiful video-on-demand (VOD) in QuickTime and MPEG-4. from MacWorld and I was absolutely blown away by the new release of iLife. Not only does it have all the key features in all the right applications, it includes a brand-new application, iWeb. In a nutshell, iWeb is a web publishing program that integrates movies, music, photos, podcasts—all the iLife programs—and lets you publish them easily online.
I am very tempted. Very, very tempted.
The one “missing” issue is that you need (as far as I can tell) a .Mac account—a $99/year subscription to web services provided by Apple. I already own my own domain name and now I’m curious how that can be integrated at all with .Mac.
Melissa is already excited about the other iLife applications, including the updates to iDVD which include a “Magic iDVD” feature which make creating a DVD child’s play.
