Redesigning the MFA website

by Derek—2004.02.04 @ 1744

As part of my assistantship, I have been asked to redesign the MFA website for Southern Utah University. The old site was done using "old" technology (tables, large images, etc.). I am really beginning to understand how XHTML and CSS work together. It is true that the more you design with CSS, the easier it gets. In fact, in many ways it is actually more liberating than the cryptic use of embedded tables and cells.

The updaded design can be viewed here.

I will be uploading screenshots of both the old site and the new CSS site. I am also considering a basic HOWTO which will go along with the project. If anything, it can show how to use CSS to accomplish some of the same "tricks" used in older systems.

The greatest part (in my mind) with using CSS in this new design is the fact that the site is far more flexible, accessible, and easier to update for the future. This is kind of geeky excitement.
